“Altars of Madness” è il debut album dei Morbid Angel, uscito il 12 maggio del 1989 per Combat Records/Earache Records.
L’album venne registrato al Morrisound Recording di Tampa, Florida. È uno degli album più celebrati nella storia del Death Metal ed uno dei più influenti di tutti i tempi, i testi apertamente satanici ed occulti ebbero anche un’influenza significativa sulla scena Black Metal norvegese dei primi tempi.
